It has been a whole month since my last post!
Sorry to those of you who actually read this. Things in our household have been moving along at a fast pace. We just got back from a trip up north for a wedding and 50th wedding anniversary.
Coincidently both were on the same weekend. My cousin Michele Gilchrist got married this past Sunday in NJ and Daniel’s Uncle Joe and Aunt Rita had their 50th wedding anniversary the Friday before. I was able to meet all of Daniel’s cousins for the first time. It was great seeing them all after hearing so much about them from Daniel. The kids had a great time dancing, below are some pictures. And it was really wonderful seeing Daniel’s Dad and Maria and spending quality time with them. And John, Daniel’s brother, flew out for the party too. It was great for Michael. He has really formed a bond with John. He’ll jump up in his lap and cuddle with him. Michael only does that with 3 other people: my dad, Daniel’s dad, and Daniel.
The wedding was wonderful and so much fun. And the food! Oh my, the food! It started with a glass of champagne and then the cocktail hour. It was a buffet that wrapped around the room serving: all kinds of Italian olives, fresh mozzarella, a prosciutto tower (my favorite part), fresh fruits and veggies, jumbo shrimp sautéed there, clams, muscles, calamari tentacles (yuck), craver roast beef, a roast pig, a martini and cosmopolitan bar, pesto ravioli, chicken marsala, a couple more pasta dishes, and a completely opened bar. Then we went in and danced and then had a full course filet mignon sit down dinner. And the party continued with dancing into the night and finished with an ice cream bar and a chocolate fondue fountain. Which, might I add was not invented until the year after we got married or I so would have had one at my wedding. There was so much food! To give you an idea I usually get a buzz off a ½ bottle of wine cooler or ½ can of beer. Now even though I drank more that night then I ever do I didn’t even get buzzed. And I wish I had eaten more. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait for the next wedding. Will it be Shelly’s? Oh, I hope so!
And I we hadn't seen my grandma or Aunts and cousins since Michael was 5 months old. It was so nice seeing everyone. I missed my grandma a lot and it was nice visiting her house where I have so many memories growing up and going over for dinner on Friday nights. I would ask my mom and dad if I could spend the night and they would say no. Well, I would secretly pack a bag and stick under driver seat in the car. And when I would get to my grandma and grandpa's I would ask them if I could spend the night and they would say yes and make my parents let me. And I would have my tooth brush and clothes and everything. Sneaky, I know! Oh I wish NJ was closer!
Then on the way home we stopped off in NC and stayed at my Aunt Patty’s house. I haven’t seen all those cousins since 2001! It was a great visit and I didn’t realize how much I missed them until I saw them again.
Now we are home and running again.
Take care and God Bless,
Dawn
